White gesso shelf frame
This frame came about through discussions with the artist Aron Hill. His drawings of birds normally carry a horizon line drawn with one thin pass of a graphite pencil. On these smaller drawings, the line is omitted by the artist so we thought it would be interesting to have the horizon line built into the frame. Aron's work demands a quiet frame that seems to extend from the expanse of white background in the drawing. The frame is 10 layers of gesso, polished with powdered pigment and wax.
