Modern Black Polish Taos Frame
When I saw the southwest landscape paintings of Richard Thomas Davis I immediately thought of the Taos School Painters of New Mexico. I then thought it was a no brainer to use a Taos style frame… but with a twist. Removing most of the ornamentation from our existing Taos frame, we left only the arch pattern leading to the arrowhead corners. The frame was finished in black polish to move it further torward the contemporary time in which the painting was done, the early 21st century. Most impressive is the window the frame creates allowing the viewer to completely fall into the artist’s beautifully painted landscape.
